A year-long study of Internet censorship in more than 50 countries found that a sharp escalation in control of the Internet since Sep 2001 may have outstripped the traditional ability of the medium to repel restrictions.

Repressive regimes are playing a key role in drafting new United Nations-backed rules on the worldwide use of the Internet that could be passed at the World Summit on the Information Society, scheduled for December in Geneva and organized by the UN Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the International Telecommunication Union. Their proposed rules, if adopted, would not only allow but also encourage widespread Web censorship as well as increased state control of TV and radio.

Why do do all phone numbers in Hollywood films start with “555″? http://www.aj.com
555 was used as a prefix, as when naming the telephone exchanges in the US, no exchange was allocated the 555 prefix. So to prevent actors etc, being rung up and harassed, movie makers were encouraged to use the 555 prefix. It is also coincidence that many phone numbers on the gold coast, also use the 555 prefix.
